August has been a busy month at Reboot Robotics as we wrapped up our summer programs and our competitive season continued to get underway! With our teams meeting each week and several programs taking place throughout the month, it has been exciting to see so much activity happening at Reboot Robotics.
We held our final STEM Lab this month before officially transitioning to our newly rebranded STEM Explorers Club in September. Students put their engineering skills to the test as they designed and constructed some amazing bridges! We also welcomed students to our Youth Robotics Class – Mountain Mayhem and held another Beginner Coding Class, giving students additional opportunities to explore robotics, coding, and hands-on STEM learning throughout the summer.
Behind the scenes, we have also been busy working on several exciting events and opportunities for our teams and our community. There is a lot on the horizon, and we are looking forward to bringing some of these plans to life in the coming months. Next month, we will be heading out to Country Days, where we look forward to connecting with our community and sharing our love of robotics!
It has been exciting to see all of the activity and growth happening at Reboot Robotics, and we are looking forward to an exciting season ahead. Be sure to keep reading to see what our teams have been working on and what is coming up next!
With gratitude,

Team Highlights

The Space Taters have been busy getting to work on this year's challenge, and with three teams now competing, it has been exciting to see each team develop its own approach to the engineering process! Our elementary-level team is full of ambitious ideas and enthusiasm as they work through the process of making decisions, testing their ideas, and learning that sometimes a design needs to change along the way.
Our two middle school teams are taking different approaches as well. One team is working through the Hero Bot, following the provided instructions while learning the fundamentals of building a VEX IQ robot. Our other middle school team is taking a more analytical approach, spending time discussing and evaluating their ideas before beginning their build. Their more advanced robot is already making great progress!
Throughout the month, all three teams have been learning more about the engineering process for the season, including their Engineering Notebooks, torque versus speed, gear ratios, and other important robotics concepts. We are excited to see how each team continues to develop its own skills and approach as the season progresses!

The Nuclear Space Potatoes have officially dived into their robot builds! Our newest members have been working through the Hero Bot, learning the fundamentals of building a VEX V5 metal robot and preparing to take on more advanced challenges. Their Hero Bot is now complete, and the team is ready to move into coding and testing.
Meanwhile, our more experienced members have been hard at work designing and building the team's competition robot entirely from their own ideas. Their student-designed robot is making great progress and will soon be ready to begin testing. It has been exciting to see our experienced students take ownership of the design process while our newer members build the skills and confidence they will need for future builds.
With both builds moving forward, the Nuclear Space Potatoes are entering an exciting stage of the season. We can't wait to see these robots come to life as the teams begin coding, testing, and refining their designs!
